Dentaid Promotioinal Stall – 30 Year Celebration
The dental charity DENTAID (https://www.dentaid.org/) is celebrating its 30th anniversary since it started providing dental kits and advice/help to overseas countries. Our Club helped Dentaid with donations and a grant in conjunction with other Rotary Clubs to provide dental kits. In 2015 a Dentaid volunteer dentist began part time dental treatment in the UK for vulnerable people in the community who were unable to access dental care. Rotary, and our Club, has continued to support the development with fundraising and donations over the years, and on Saturday 28th March a promotional stall was set up in Aylesbury Market Square to publicise Dentaid’s work in the community. Their mobile dental units have brought dentistry to all parts of the country with the support of their volunteer dentists and nurses. Their BrightBites program has brought oral health information to thousands of children, and they continue to support dentists overseas by providing equipment, sharing and providing skills, and helping them reach communities.
A Dentaid/BrightBites volunteer, and a retired volunteer dentist, shared valuable advice and information with a steady number of families coming to the stall, and it is hoped to sign up a local school for a BrighBites visit. There was a teeth model for children to show how they clean their teeth, and balloons and gifts were given out.
